I have been passionate about horses for as long as I can remember, first getting in the saddle at just five years old. Since then, riding and horsemanship have been at the heart of everything I do.
Competing regularly, I have built a reputation for producing horses through the levels with patience, consistency, and a rider-focused approach. One of the proudest achievements of my career has been taking two horses from their very first stages of training all the way through to competing at Bramham CCI4*, demonstrating my ability to develop young horses into accomplished eventing athletes.
Now embarking on an exciting new chapter, I am bringing on a talented group of young horses and continuing my passion for producing quality event horses for the future.
Alongside competing, I am available for private and group coaching, sharing the knowledge and experience I have gained from years in the sport. Whether you're looking to improve your flatwork, jumping, cross-country confidence, or overall partnership with your horse, my supportive and practical approach helps riders of all ages and abilities reach their goals.
With a strong belief in building confidence, establishing correct foundations, and developing happy horses, I am dedicated to helping both horse and rider achieve their full potential.
About us
With over 50 years of experience in the saddle, horses have been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember.
Growing up on my family's farm, my riding journey began in an unconventional way, riding the farm cows using a bridle fashioned from baler twine. It quickly became apparent to my parents that my fascination with all things equestrian was more than a passing phase, and before long I had my first pony.
From an early age, I developed the determination and work ethic that continue to define me today. I would regularly hack over 6 miles to Newton Stewart to compete before turning around and riding all the way home again. The resilience, commitment, and ambition forged during those years are qualities I now work hard to instil in every rider I teach.
As a coach and competitor, I have successfully evented up to CCI2-L*, most notably with my horse of a lifetime, Lipstick, with whom I enjoyed many memorable achievements. My passion for horses extends far beyond competition, with a lifelong commitment to developing both horse and rider through correct, sympathetic training.
In recognition of my dedication to coaching, I was honoured by Horse Scotland in 2024 as Young People's Coach of the Year, a reflection of the positive impact I have had on the next generation of riders.
Today, my greatest satisfaction comes from teaching riders of all ages and abilities. Whether I'm working with a complete beginner, a young rider taking their first competitive steps, or an experienced competitor aiming for the next level, I am passionate about helping every pupil build confidence, enjoy their riding, and fulfil their potential.
